Qualified & Experienced Teacher Vacancies

Full Time Teacher of English as a Second Language

Responsibilities: Delivering English lessons to small groups or individual children for whom English is an additional language.

Qualifications required: Degree in English or teaching English as a second language or CELTA or TESOL qualification

Permanent contract subject to performance reviews.

Part Time Teacher of Geography

 Responsibilities: Delivering the English National Curriculum subject of Geography to children aged 11 to 18 (A level)

Qualifications required: Degree in Geography or Humanities and PGCE or equivalent

Permanent contract subject to performance reviews.

Part Time Teacher of History

 Responsibilities: Delivering the English National Curriculum subject of History to children aged 11 to 18 (A level)

Qualifications required: Degree in History or Humanities and PGCE or equivalent

Permanent contract subject to performance reviews.

 The successful applicant must have a high standard of both spoken and written English as well as recent, relevant experience of teaching the English National Curriculum.

Secondary School Teachers

For secondary teaching you will need a degree in the subject you apply to teach, awarded by a university that is recognised by KYSATS – the regulatory body on academic awards here in Cyprus. You will be fluent in English (spoken and written) and hold a PGCE (or IPGCE) or equivalent. It is a prerequisite of all teachers at TLC that they be computer literate.

Primary School Teachers

Primary teachers are class-based and must be effective in the teaching of English, Mathematics, Science and Computing. They are required to have a Bachelor of Education or similar pedagogically based degree and be fluent in English (spoken and written).

Teaching Assistant

As an international school with an inclusive ethos, we admit children for whom English is sometimes not their first language. We are always interested to hear from experienced and qualified people who may have something to offer our school community. This may be school experience in another setting, TEFL, qualifications in a specialist area such as Dyslexia, ADHD or therapeutic experience.

We appoint only teachers we feel satisfy our rigorous requirements for qualifications, commitment to students and a sound moral and ethical philosophy of education. We also enjoy reciprocal relationships with UK and Cyprus universities that support not only the passage of our students into tertiary education, but also the opportunity for trainee teachers to experience placements in our school. We believe this to be important in a school that teaches an English curriculum in a country outside Britain because these placements bring exponents of the latest and most effective classroom practice into our school. The universities we work with also validate our schools as offering valuable, relevant experience to their students, thereby endorsing our expertise in the field of English curriculum delivery.

Several of our teachers come from the English state or private school systems. Others come from a different environment where they have experienced the teaching of an English curriculum to international students. Wherever they come from, all staff must follow our Ministry approved curriculum that for us is based on the most up to date English statutory and non-statutory guidance.

Teachers at TLC do not stand still! They are able to further their knowledge, skills and experiences through participation in post graduate training through our partner universities such as Buckingham. Participants have the opportunity, should they so wish, after completion, to convert their post graduate qualification into English Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
